Work, Play, Getaway
Happy Sunday readers!! Last weekend was a whirlwind. We wanted a weekend getaway, and Halifax seemed like a good spot to hit for a couple days. When I plan a trip, I plan with work and fun in mind, pretty much equally. So this one was definitely a work trip a work trip mixed with drinks, meetings, shoots & shopping.
I'm going to start with this: There are two Deltas in Halifax. We have the Delta
Barrington
and we have the
. They are located about one block away from each other and they are two completely different hotels. Double check you're going to the right one. Hahaha
We arrived Friday night, dropped off our bags at the
and immediately went to Wasabi House for happy hour. (9-11pm -you're welcome) For those of you who don't know of Wasabi House, it's an amazing sushi restaurant on Quinpool. It's great service, amazing sushi and vvvv affordable prices. -They also give two rolls of complimentary sushi on the house. That definitely keeps us coming back.
Saturday morning we had an amazing breakfast in our room, took a minute to ourselves, planned our day and had our coffee. We then headed over to the Halifax Market, one of my favourite spots on a Saturday morning. After the market we had lunch at Enda! I asked Instagram some must see Hali spots and so many of you commented or messaged me, recommending Edna! You were right, it was really good. Saturday was a jam packed day. After lunch I had a quick meeting with Kyla Short of
. We talked business, blogs, partnerships and I might have met my soulmate. Lol
Saturday night we had dinner at GIO, it was really really good. It's rated #1 in Halifax and for good reason. Can I give everyone an inside tip?
Give people free food
.
They will keep coming back.
After a nice little romantic dinner we headed back for a low key night back at the hotel. We had drinks at
, located inside the Delta Halifax. It was cozy, fun and the wine was cold. It was a really relaxing way to end a long day.
Sunday morning we had another peaceful breakfast in our room and slowly got ready for the day. We had our coffee and then headed down to the hot tub. It's a cute little area and though I didn't stray from the hot tub, I heard the pool was great too;) It was clean, bright and not too many people. Perfect.
Saturday afternoon we stopped by Good Robot, a really cool little brewery in the North End. It had big mac hot dogs .... I recommend this place also. I then headed off to a meeting with Attica Home. Some awesome things happening with AKA DECOR & Attica coming up this spring so stay tuned!
It was a busy trip and we joked that we barely had time to lay in the big hotel bed. But the location of the
was in the perfect spot and in walking distance to everywhere we needed to go. It's in the heart of downtown and we had a pretty amazing view of the waterfront and the bridge. The staff was really accommodating and it really couldn't have gone better. I'm picky when it comes to hotels & sometimes "difficult" when having a say in booking. Lol. But I will definitely be staying here again and recommend visitors to Hali to definitely give this hotel a go if you want super accommodating staff, don't want to drive your car and if you want to be close to everything in the city!
Have a great week folks!!
xx
