Home Series: Buying Our 2nd Flip, Before Photos

Hi guys! Believe it or not we bought our next house flip! What is crazy about this house that it’s actually the first house Justin and I ever went to see when we started our house hunting a few years ago. The only reason we didn’t get this house a year ago was because we needed a live in flip, and this house certainly wasn’t one.

Almost two years later we attended an auction put on by the bank for this same house. The bank ended up bidding on it at a price that was too high for us, or anyone else there. A few months later the house got put back on the market and we made an offer. After a bit of countering back and forth, we got the house. While we were in Hawaii, we got news (on the day it was due, of course) that the mortgage insurance didn’t get approved due to the current condition of the house. It was almost like they thought we were blind to the condition, and didn’t understand that we wanted to FIX this house. It was really stressful, the house had other offers, other that were even higher than ours, and, all cash. We almost lost it. We needed to find another mortgage broker that was willing to work with us on this “fixer upper”. Thankfully our god sent realtor Charlotte Pierce, worked her magic, and endless hours on figuring this out for us while we were on a 7 hour time difference, AND ON THE WEEKEND. We owe her. She pulled through, connected us with a new broker, got an extension, and got the job done. It’s oursssss <3. She truly is the best person at her job that I have ever met in my life. I’m not even joking you.

There are a few things that I absolutely love about this house and they are the few things that really stuck with us after seeing so many other candidates. It is in such a quaint, quiet, neighbourhood and a little bit private secluded and from the main drag. Another huge plus is that members of my family live on the same street, and I actually grew up on this street when I was little!! (!!!) We are so so SO excited to be closer the family, and I will be much closer for Bachelor night. hahaha. The final thing is, of course, the ocean view. We are literally steps away from the beach, and I cannot wait to make the master bedroom facing the windows to the ocean. Pinch me!!! It is absolutely the crappy, rundown house, in a nice neighbourhood. The perfect flip, with a bit of personal love <3.

We are so excited to start renovations here and make it our home for a few years! She might not be pretty at the moment, but we have some big plans for this girl. Of course we will be sticking to our monochromatic style, but with a more of a modern and beachy, wooden touch. I’ll write a post on our inspiration and ideas soon! We expect to start renovations in the next few months, while also finishing up our current house and preparing it to hit the market. Check out the before walk through photos and videos. The changes with this home will be so crazy, it’s so funny how things fall into place sometimes, even though we lost hope on this house so many times.

xx
