Berry stained lips for Rebecca Taylor

I arrived in NYC last Saturday morning and immediately dropped off my bags at my hotel and ran right to Rebecca Taylor's backstage show. And by ran, I mean sat in a taxi in traffic for 30 minutes.  I couldn't be happier when I saw how amazing the window light and all white walls were, then I met Zosia Mamet. Star from hit TV series Girls.
First hour in New York, I'll take it.

A close-up look at the makeup from the Fall 2014 show by Sil Bruinsma Streeters USA and the wonderful MAC Cosmetics team: Almost bare skin, masculine brow in#Taupe, sheen on the lid and a #grungy Berry lipstain in#MAC #Gigolo + #HeartsAflame#NYFW (via: Rebecca Taylor Facebook page)

The models were so pretty & so in love with how nude, wearable this makeup look is. I'll definitely be trying it before fall;)

That time in between

That poetry she wrote, you know..Remember that one that left you restless with emotion seeping through your veins? She flew like the wind. The vicious wind that leaves you at loss for breath. The door slammed hard. Standing there alone with the fading illusion of her dancing by the dust layered, cracked wood floor. Painted toes, chipped but perfect.

Poem for a penny

This past summer I learned an extreme appreciation for walking around instead of driving. I took some pretty cool photos of the city of Montreal and places I explored through. Returning home, my mindset stuck. I find myself seeing things I previously overlooked, everyday. Last Thursday I tore myself from working on assignments and went for a little walk around downtown Fredericton. As much as I was giving myself a "break" I was shooting the whole time. Hahah it's actually an addiction.
This little city has character, even on a cloudy day.

Saturday night tea time

Hi guys xx I'm feeling pretty distant from everything I am normally familiar with right now and I'm not sure why. Maybe because I haven't been home since Christmas break, or that I've never been so overwhelmed with school or maybe that some of my closest friends now live across the world... It's weird but it's growing up! It's teaching me a lot about time management and prioritizing. Hence I'm home taking a break from working on 11pm on a Saturday night... "No rest for the wicked"
ok sorry that was lame.

These past couple weeks I've been taking on 7, 3 hour classes, 4 days a week. If that's not exhausting add, applying to NSCAD University, scholarship letters, recommendation letters, portfolio rebuilding, new website and working my butt off to earn a Career Development "Artists in Residence" grant to travel this summer and work on my art & career.
Applying to places in NYC & Los Angeles seems pretty out of reach, feels insane when I'm writing those emails, but weirdly enough I had the same feeling when applying to agencies in Montreal last year at this time, and I found myself living there shortly after!

SO here's what a little break looks like on a quiet Saturday night with me, between google search, gmail, Photoshop, research and split screened to the 3rd season of Gossip girl. Haha it's Saturday nights like these I hope makes the difference in the future.

New Year, new begnning

2013 was one pretty spectacular year for both my personal life and my career. I grew apart from some of the closest people I thought I'd ever have, and met some new people that I now can't imagine my life without. For me, it shows that we're constantly changing even when we can't see the road ahead, we need to trust that there are amazing things lined up for us.

This last year I finally stopped talking about all the things I wanted to do... and did them. I figured out self motivation, time management and prioritizing &how important each one them are. I learned that there's no better time like the present and once you start going for the what you want to have, incredible things start happening.

I had travelled to Miami, Pittsburgh, Boston, Nashville, Montreal & New York. I shot with photographers I idolized, worked with some very talented models and makeup artists and made memories and photographs that I will never ever forget. I explored some beautiful cities and met some unforgettable faces.
Overall the most important thing I learned in these past 12 months is that keeping a positive attitude is the best change you could make to yourself. Even when I was at times of devastation I kept thinking "practice what you preach" and it literally changed a few important situations around that could have ended for the worst. Stay in control.

Some of my goals & resolutions are:

-Set the bar even higher
-Continue to cutout negativity
-Travel more
-Get published nationally
-Never settle
-Appreciate the little things like morning coffee
-Make plans instead of excuses
-Use instagram as a daily photo challenge even on days I'm not feeling inspired
-Meet as many new people as I can
-Take things lightly
-Laugh more
-Reflect daily

I want to say thank you to everyone who has followed me for my whole 2013 year and before! Thank you for keeping me motivated when I needed it the most. I am setting the bar even higher for 2014 so stick with me & I hope I don't disappoint xx

This photo was a client collaboration, and a paid session "to do whatever I wanted" (I LOVE THOSE)
This lovely little model is Peanut.

This image is symbolizing being blindfolded but also in control of your life & direction, without knowing what's ahead. Taking a cloud from the sky, because you can. & doing it beautifully.

All the best in the new year to you
