My first workshop !!

I had the most amazing time hosting my first photography workshop. It's something that I've been talking about doing for over 2 years now and finally put aside the time to get done. After many hours of planning, finding ideas, shopping for dresses, brainstorming, calling around, seeking feedback, purchasing birds, mortifying my boyfriend while pulling out a life size mermaid tail in public, ..you know, all the normal things other people do for their job, I couldn't be more happy with the turnout.

So before shooting there was some prep time.
Introducing our talented behind the scenes team!

Hair: Shelley Hennesey
Makeup: Brittany Campbell
Models: Taryn Fitzpatrick, Olivia Laidlaw

Also, a big shout out & thank you to Exchange on Germain with providing gorgeous styling and amazing dresses for us to use. Some great girls in there and so very helpful!
The dresses that we used are available for purchase in store!

Everyone did an amazing job

After hair & makeup, we headed down to the location. Lucky for us, Arthur didn't ruin our time. The weather was sunny, foggy & misty all at the same time. It really put a test to adjusting our camera settings ;)

All these awesome BTS photos were taken by: Marianne Beckwith
thank you!!!

I was really happy to be able to teach some of my experience in fashion, beauty and also conceptual. I taught the group how to "think ahead" while shooting conceptual images. Planning the scene before hand and taking the shots you need to have in all piece together in Photoshop afterwards.

How cute are they !!!!

Day 2 was spent at UNBSJ reviewing images, talking changes, editing, retouching process and a little bit about my story. My experiences and how I got to some of the points where I am today.

I was SO happy seeing what the girls came up with in their shots. It is something really cool giving everyone the same tools to work with and then seeing how different the results are.

It made me really excited that I could make that happen for them and now I totally understand why teachers love their job. It was unbelievably rewarding.

Here is some feedback from the experience of the participants!

What was your favourite part?Favourite: shooting the girls, loved trying different settings on camera, different angles, etc. working with real models was awesome. Totally addictive. If I was young and could start over, I think I'd peruse a career I photography. What is the biggest thing you learned while reviewing/retouching?How useful the clone tool is ! Would you reccommend a future workshop to others? Why?Yes because it was a great experience and the photos turned out amazing which is good to add to your portfolio, and I learned a lot ! On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your over all experience?TEN!
