Topic of discussion: Frenchys

Hey guys! This week's topic of discussion is Frenchys. If you're not from around here, Frenchys is a used clothing store that are in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The one that I go to has imports from the Boston area. My family used to bring me to Frenchys when I was really little. At that time, I loved it, they had a little play area, and I loved running underneath all the tables. As I got older, I hated it. I did not want to be the kid at school that shopped at Frenchys.

. As I got older, the love affair for this little store came back. I always loved vintage shopping and shopping for designer clothing on eBay. (Still do) There's some really good vintage shops in Halifax. There's something about finding a one of a kind piece, and for a good deal, that I'm addicted to.

Amazing finds

The Frenchys that I love is on the West side. I know there's a few more throughout the city and a few in the Fredericton area, but this one's my go to. In the past few years I've found most of my favourite every day pieces. I've found loungewear, basic tees, jackets, you name it. I've found a Yves Saint Laurent blazer, a jacket by Dior, a Balmain dress shirt, and more. It's great for people with an eye for expensive things because most of the time they're just looked over. Sometimes you gotta dig, but it's so worth it.

A little candy for your day

This outfit I'm wearing is a t-shirt by Dolce and Gabanna and a blazer by an Egyptian designer. I got them on the same trip, and I left very happy. I was specifically looking for a fitted, plain, black blazer, and I came out with one! Wahoo. The grey tee by Dolce and Gabanna I picked up, thought it was cute and didn't notice the tag until I was at the checkout. Hello! A nice surprise. Sometimes I find myself driving there when I have 50 things to do, and they all suck. I'll put them on hold and stop in for a quick hunt. ALSO! Frenchys is not like Value Village in the way that they price things according to brand or tag, all shirts, dresses, jackets,

are all the same price.

Yesssss.

Maybe I'm a weirdo but I find Value Village .....expensive. Am I just really cheap? Or did I remember them being more reasonable a few years ago? Hahah I'm too cheap for VV, so my loyalty lies with Frenchys.

Recycle

I am a strong believer in used clothing, or trading clothing, or giving away your old clothing. I've always lived with girls and it's so fun to swap clothing and trade old favourites. I always found that something they were completely over, I was so excited to have for myself. I rarely buy new clothing to be honest, I do receive a lot of clothing from different companies but when I am buying myself my first stop is always Frenchys and my second stop is Joe Fresh. Exchange on Germain is another good one in Saint John for designer clothing, but preowned. I find they feel more special and valuable than pieces you can easily buy in every size. You guys should try it if you don't already! I can almost guarantee, if you have the patience to search through a lot of items, you'll leave with a nice satisfying piece that you'll love and be proud you found! I'll be going through my closet soon, I'll definitely have a few bags full that will need to go. I always try to consign my better items at Exchange on Germain, and the others I give to the Salvation Army. I definitely recommend doing both! Next on my radar is a little DVF wrap dress, so if you guys are at Frenchys I'm a size 2;)
