Bobby came into our lives unexpectedly, after spending a winter outdoors near Bobby's Hospice. He was only supposed to stay with us for a little while, but as it turns out, he had other plans.
He's a pretty remarkable little cat with a big personality, an interesting past, and a habit of following us on our evening walks, often all the way down to the beach.
Somewhere along those walks a few summers ago, I started imagining his story as a storybook. (Or cinematic film if you know of any filmmakers)
The idea kept knocking at my door, and especially after we arrived in Greece this last year and there was an identical tabby cat that waltzed right into our rental like he lived there, and seamlessly started following us on our evening walk!! We named him Rovvy, Greek for Bobby. So I thought that was enough of a sign, and I'm finally bringing it to life through writing and a collection of original 30×60" large scale oil paintings.
To me creating this, is for all my cousins, best friends & the millennial mom who spends countless special hours of their lives with their kids before bed. And for the kind of book that my younger self would be obsessed with both looking at, and reading over and over again. That is my goal.
This is a very personal project, inspired by Bobby, our time volunteering at Bobby's Hospice with our late dog Mason, and the unexpected ways animals become part of our lives and sometimes flip things on their heads.
