Hey guys!! It’s here!! We are finally revealing our main level bathroom before and afters!!! We made a video of the process so you can see the work that went into it behind the scenes! I am so so soo happy with how everything turned out and I am going to be SO sad to leave this bathroom when we move!!
When we saw this house for the first time, I immediately knew that when we renovated this house that the washer and dryer were getting OUT of this space and into their own room. I am not a big fan of shared spaces for laundry & bath especially when you have room to keep.them separate. We knocked down a wall further down this hall and put up a new wall separating two rooms, so that’s where the washer and dryer live now, and that laundry room is officially our next project!!
This side of the house gets the best light and this sad little room had so much potential. We originally had an entirely different design plan for this bathroom and I was a little nervous that Justin was going to kill me for changing my mind after we had already ordered tile…… Lol. Luckily he was sold as soon as I explained to him my new vision for the room. I couldn’t get this image of a European hotel style bathroom out of my head, and wanted to try it SO bad.
If you followed along on stories you probably remember me asking around for a clawfoot tub! I was so happy when one of you DM’d me that you knew someone who had one they were getting rid of! We picked it up later that day and it was exactly what I pictured here. (After a quick restoration and paint job lol) We spray painted the legs a few different times to get just the right shade of gold.
As some of you know, the artwork for above the tub was a bit of a process. I knew the vibe I wanted to have, but I was really nervous to do it. We made a fun challenge for Justin and I to both create something for this space and then have you guys vote. Hahaha. As I started creating something I thought it should be on linen rather than a regular prime canvas. I wanted the piece to feel sensual, lived in and imperfect. I created a mock up painting on a smaller scale before I started the real thing. My dad custom made the canvas frame to the size we needed and Justin and I stretched it ourselves. You can shop the initial study and other artwork here, or commission one of your own in this style.
The floor is SO satisfying because it’s exactly what I envisioned here. Justin was thrilled LOL. It was tedious, but so so so worth it. We sourced our tile from Grand Bay Home Hardware, definitely talk to Justine if you want to recreate this look. We used a light grey grout for this flooring to keep the tile nice and light. I wasn’t looking for a ton of contrast in the flooring this time. I love the timeless style of tiny hex tiles, I prefer them over the round style.
The wall mouldings were another thing that came to me after we got going. I thought it would be a perfect detail to add a bit of dimension to the white walls. It was also a bit of a tedious process but again, SO worth it!!! I love love loveeee it and kind of want to do it in every single room. Lol. The white we used on the walls and trim is Beauti-Tone in Here comes the Bride. (Our whole house is this colour.)
Okay lets talk about our shower. Our shower door is by Dreamline and it’s straight out of my design dreams. It is absolutely PERFECT. It’s from the same French line as our shower door we used upstairs in the master bath. I LOVE it’s industrial design that is clean and modern. I love how well it mixes with the space and I honestly just can’t get over how good it looks. I get a lot of questions about how our Dreamline doors are to clean. They are sooo easy to clean because the black grid lines that you see, aren’t actually elevated, They are flush with the glass so you wipe over all of them, not each individual square. It’s amazing. We chose the white base for our design, but you can also choose a black base with this model.
Our light fixture along with almost every single light fixture in our home is by Kichler. We wanted something simple, modern, with soft flattering light. This one was perfect. It has led lighting under the bottom giving the prettiest ring light.
For hardware for all of the faucets we went with gold. At first we considered black, but we wanted to try something different for this room and gold definitely went better with the “Paris Hotel” vibe. Lol. I loveeee how the hardware gives off a vintage feel and now I want them in every bathroom we design from here on out hahaha.
Okay lets talk about the sink. This was another Kijiji find, along with the cabinet above the toilet. It needed a bit of restoration but has been holding up perfectly. I knew that I wanted to sit on an exposed pipe stand like what I had seen in a photo somewhere, and Justin made it happen. The process can be seen in the video that we made in this post, and we could possibly make it’s own post on this. Justin made it look pretty easy, so it can’t be that hard right? Lol. The sink is a vintage cast iron double sink and it’s so big and would be perfect for bathing a little babe. hehe.
I think I covered most of the details but let me know if you have any questions! Definitely let me know if you want us to go into more depth on any of what you see! Let m know what you think of the transformation over on Instagram!
xx
