DIY: Hanging Pipe Light

Allie Beckwith February 12, 2017

Eeeee I'm so excited to share how to make this hanging pipe light with you guys! I've been seeing these everywhere on Instagram, Pinterest and in restaurants! They can be done more complex or also more simple than this one. This condo has exposed brick and piping all through it, it really has a cool industrial feel to it. We went with the piping to match that. So I'd say it's a medium complexity, but barely. -So easy.

For me, when I see things like on blogs or in stores/restaurants, I definitely admire them, but never think, yeah I could do that myself. But

sometimes you can

!!!!!

We got all of the supplies at Home Depot but I made it much much easier

and cheaper

for you to buy everything you need literally without leaving your house.

I love amazon

. It turns out we should have checked online before our shopping trip because almost everything we got was cheaper on amazon.

So once you decide where you want to add a hanging light, (I've seen some cool ones in kitchens, but I loveeeee them as a light beside the bed) Measure how high you want it. We went with something that went a little bit higher than the headboard. Ours is 18" long. (link below) And decide how far you want it to stick out. We went with 6" (link below).

Once you have the parts.

Step 1.

Run the chord through all the pieces & through the electrical connections.

Step 2.

Check that the light works.

Step 3

. Screw all the pieces together.

Step 4

. Connect to the wall!

If you have exposed brick, you'll need to drill a pilot hole and use brick anchors. If you have drywall, use a stud and screw it into those.

I'd also like to mention how obsessed I am with this chair by LexMod. I've seen them used as chairs for kitchen tables, accent chairs and really they just look cool anywheres. This one has the rocker bottom, I like it a little better than the standard bottom, it feels nicer to sit in. I'll also link this and the exact plant below.

Here are the links to the pieces we found. I would recommend getting the Ikea Hemme Black Chord set in the 6th photo rather than the one in the 5th photo. We didn't have this option but it saves you a step!
